Metallic green bees sometimes known by their genus name Agapostemon are native to the Americas.
Metallic green bees, unlike many of their fellow Hymenoptera are non-eusocial bees. Some species of Agapostemon are communal and multiple females might nest together as a protection against kleptoparasitic bees that would steal their food. Other species of Metallic green bees are solitary and dig their burrows in the ground alone.
Metallic green bees, like most bees, feed their larvae pollen and nectar.
Metallic green bees are highly photogenic and make I thought a picture of this virescent green metallic bee makes nice eye candy.
