The eastern diamondback rattlesnake is currently not considered to be threatened, but some think that they should enjoy some amount of protection.

The eastern diamondback rattlesnake has a potent venom that can be deadly. Since it is an aggressive snake one better give it some space when one encounters a diamondback rattlesnake in the wild.

Some people — for reasons that I don’t fully comprehend — like to keep eastern diamondback rattlesnakes as pets at home. My first advice would be to just resist the urge to get one. For a balanced view a link to care sheet is included below, but probably only very experienced and determined snake enthusiast should even try to keep one as venomous snakes are not suitable pets for most people.
