Emperor scorpions are popular in the pet trade because their sting is not more painful than a bee sting and usually not more dangerous. If you are considering getting an emperor scorpion as a pet you should be aware that the some people are allergic to scorpion stings and the effect can be quite dangerous.

In appearance emperor scorpions are similar to the Asian forest scorpions but emperor scorpions are somewhat less aggressive towards humans. They do eat each other though, emperor scorpions are highly cannibalistic and should not be kept together.

In the wild emperor scorpions mostly eat termites but they would kill and eat any small animal that comes close including small lizards. In captivity emperor scorpions should be fed insects, mostly crickets, but they also eat meal worms and other feeder insects.
